The NSS is also associated with poker (primarily Texas hold’em) – the Not So Serious Poker Society (NSS:PS) currently operates only within Edinburgh, Scotland and membership is invite only. If you’re a member of the NSS:PS or you’d like to be, get in touch with Ben.

We need a BF3 server

So, as a gaming society we should probably have our own server – as it stands we plan to start a single BF3 server with about 24 slots but might consider more servers in the future (larger and/or different games, possibly BF2142). We plan to enforce quite a strict code of conduct, emphasising fair play and good sportsmanship – obvious highlights include: “no rockets on infantry” and “no attacking non-caps”.

For now we’re considering a Multiplay Gameserver but this is still open to debate – a 24 player server would weigh in at ~£20 per month, which seems to be a tad on the expensive side which will hopefully equate to a good quality of service but only time will tell.

The Not So Serious Gaming Society

The launch of this website marks the inauguration of the Not So Serious Gaming Society (NSSGS) which today becomes part of the rich history of the Not So Serious Society (NSSS). The aim of NSSGS is to bring casual team-gaming to players looking to play in a team of effectual but fun gamers!

NSSGS’s roots are found in Dice’s FPS tour de force, Battlefield 3, but we enjoy a variety of games (including Battlefield 3, Battlefield 2142, Red Alert 3 and Supreme Commander) and are always interested in the next big thing.

We’re currently recruiting so if you can hold a rifle, welcome aboard!

BF3 Practice (27th Dec)

The first Battlefield 3 gaming practice for the NSS occurs on the 27th of December! The first practice won’t be on our own server and we don’t have a Mumble server yet but if you catch us on Origin (just add HungryDinosaur) we’ll get a party going.
